Accountants in Insurance are Hot property!

One of the areas that I specialise in at A + F recruitment is the placement of Accountants into the Insurance sector.

Worthy of note:

The insurance sector is no longer the “poor cousin” of Banking and Capital Markets for quality and quantity of interesting roles! Significant Investment into Digital, Cyber and Sustainability plus new Insurtech entrants to the market plus transformation of more traditional insurers means that more specialised opportunities are coming on stream at a rapid pace.
We have supply issues for Accountants with experience in Insurance whether that be in areas such as Financial Reporting, FP&A, IFRS 17, Data Analytics, Project Management, Advisory, Internal Audit or Risk. To hire in a timely manner, employers will need to think laterally and hire around competencies and skill not purely focus on Insurance knowledge. International candidates with stamp 1G are an excellent source of potential candidates.

The September 2021 survey from PWC highlights the following: “Confidence rebounds with significant plans to invest in priority areas”

The survey reveals an insurance industry that is rebounding with certainty and resilience, but not without its challenges. Poor investment performance (65%) due to low or negative interest rates and regulatory challenges (59%) continue to be key macro-risks. Other key business challenges include the availability of key talent and skills (45%, up from 24% last year), digital transformation (45%) and adjusting to the new ways of working (43%). Cyberthreats have escalated (45%, up from 15% last year).

The industry is planning to tackle many of these issues head on with significant investment step-ups. Key areas for significant investment over the next three years are digital transformation (55%), cybersecurity (32%) and sustainability (30%). In addition, as the industry adjusts to the new ways of working, significant changes to workforce strategies are on the agenda including hybrid working, diversity and inclusion, talent and leadership and productivity through automation”
