Accountant – Insurance

Job Overview.

Experience: 3-5 Years Sector: Financial Accounting

This exciting, newly created Financial Accounting position will involve working as part of the team which is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of all companies within this exciting InsureTech group.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Gathering, validating and compiling quantitative and qualitative financial information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Administration of the General Ledger, e.g. maintenance of account hierarchies, cost centre administration, reconciliation processes.
• Interpreting financial information to determine causality, significance, business impact or implications and developing advice or recommendations for approval by Finance and Company management.
• Preparation of the overall monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of all companies within the Group.
• Assist in the design and operation of a robust financial close process ensuring effective and efficient financial control.
• Identifying and suggesting improvements to financial controls and processes with an aim to increase efficiency or effectiveness.
• Bringing a finance perspective to company projects, initiatives and ad hoc tasks as they arise.
• Supporting the taxation compliance of the Company.

Skills, knowledge and attributes:

• Qualified accountant with at least 2 years of experience in the finance function of a financial services entity.
• Strong understanding of insurance business general ledger flows and control environments (underwriter, brokerage and service providers).
• Strong base knowledge of Irish GAAP and IFRS rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of Solvency II reporting requirements preferrable.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc.)
