Associate, Financial Controls – Shared Services

This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join the Finance and Control department of a shared service operation set up to support a blue chip, global bank. This SLA operation is responsible for accounting for circa 450 million euros of group services across approximately 20 different front and back-office service categories.

The role of Associate is to work closely with the local team to support the provision of tax compliant intercompany services with robust and efficient accounting and control services.

Responsibilities include:

• Collection of relevant underlying expense data from the central finance system and from various service providing departments.
• Liaison with Expenses team to acquire relevant expense forecasts and data.
• Collection and maintenance of allocation key data.
• To assess the allocation keys and departments and consider if new departments required to be added or deleted and reasonableness of the applicable allocation keys for each department.
• Calculation of charges – applying the allocation keys to the expense data and evaluating cost of each SLA
• Comparison of figures to previous quarterly, half year or yearly to identify significant differences, which may need to be investigated and explained.
• Vat categorization of charges (under advice from local finance teams / advisors in the EMEA locations)
• Preparation of monthly control sheets.

To be considered for this role, you will be a part-qualified accountant or a qualified accounting technician. Your ability to clearly communicate with senior management will also need to be accompanied by experience in intra-group cost allocations, monthly accounting processes and reconciliations ideally within the financial sector.
