My client is a long established business in the automotive industry who, due to growth and expansion, is looking to appoint a new Financial Controller to the Dublin team.
This is a newly created role and will include managing daily accounting operations, overseeing financial reporting to manufacturers and management, ensuring compliance with internal policies & external regulations and overseeing all budgeting & forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly financial statements, analyse results, and highlight trends and deviations to management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in creating and managing dealership budgets and forecasts and analyse financial performance against these goals.
- Cash Management:
Maintain an effective cash management system and forecast cash needs to ensure the business has adequate funds.
- Internal Controls:
Establish and manage internal financial controls and policies to safeguard assets, ensure accountability, and mitigate risks.
- Team Leadership:
Oversee the accounting office staff, provide coaching, mentoring, and career development to attract, retain, and develop the team.
- Operational Support:
Provide financial reports and analysis to department managers to help them understand their performance and develop action plans for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all financial activities comply with dealership accounting processes, policies, and relevant financial laws and regulations.
- Auditing:
Coordinate with external auditors and assist with internal audits and the preparation of required financial documentation.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant with 5-10 years PQE
- Prior experience in the Motor industry essential
- A strategic mindset with a pragmatic approach to drive operational excellence and financial growth.
- Expertise in general ledger, financial statement preparation, and month-end closing procedures
- Exceptional ability to interpret financial data, identify issues, and provide actionable insights.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor an accounting team, and strong written and oral communication skills to liaise with management and staff.
- A high level of organization and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial matters.
- Competence in various financial management software and systems used by dealerships. Experience in CDK/Autoline a major advantage.
