What should you include in your Finance CV Cover note?

There are mixed opinions out there on the purpose/value of a cover letter with your job application. Our view is that a cover letter demonstrates that you have given thought to your application. So many people apply for jobs without having read the requirements of the position. And it shows. If you want to stand out from the crowd, take the time to write a brief cover note – the following tips should help you.

  • The contents of a cover letter
  • Make sure you address the right person
  • Research the company in advance
  • Customize each cover letter for each job/employer
  • Be to the point and succinct
  • Write no more than three short paragraphs
  • Have a strong opening statement that outlines why you want the job
  • Use key words from the job description
  • Briefly outline your relevant experience and achievements
  • Read the cover letter and make such you run a spell and grammar check
  • Finish with a polite thank-you and call to action. This call to action could be asking the
recruiter or hiring manager to review your resume, schedule a call or better again, invite you
    for interview
  • Keep an eye on your emails and phone for responses to the cover note and respond in a
    timely manner
